Northern California Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment Workshop

May 22-23, 2017 (Redding) and May 31-June 1, 2017 (Eureka) • Redding, CA and Eureka, CA • Western Shasta Resource Conservation District and Six Rivers National Forest Supervisors Office
Overview
This climate change vulnerability assessment workshop is one piece of a larger project entitled the Northern California Climate Adaptation Project, a collaborative effort between EcoAdapt, the U.S. Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region, and the Bureau of Land Management - California. The purpose of this project is to conduct a vulnerability assessment and develop climate-smart adaptation strategies for focal resources (habitats, species, species groups) of northwestern California, with a specific focus on the Six Rivers, Klamath, Shasta-Trinity, and Mendocino National Forests and Arcata, Redding, and portions of the Ukiah BLM field office areas. The goal of this workshop is to assess the vulnerability of a suite of focal resources (chosen at the previous Focal Resources Workshop) to climate change. This 2-day workshop will include: (1) a review of climate trends (current, historic, projected future) for northwestern California; (2) vulnerability assessment application for a suite of species, habitats, and species groups that were selected prior to the workshop; and (3) examples of vulnerability assessment applications and case studies.
