Northern California Focal Resources & Scenario Planning Workshop
March 7-8, 2016 (Eureka) and March 9-10, 2016 (Redding) • Eureka, CA and Redding, CA • Six Rivers National Forest and Western Shasta Resource Conservation District
Overview
The USFS Pacific Southwest Region, BLM - California, and EcoAdapt are partnering to conduct a vulnerability assessment and develop climate-smart adaptation strategies for focal resources (habitats, species, ecosystem services) of northwestern California, with a specific focus on the Six Rivers, Klamath, Shasta-Trinity,
and Mendocino National Forests and BLM lands in the Arcata and Redding field office areas and portions of the Ukiah field office area. This effort will provide information and tools for USFS planning and management (Forest Plan Revisions, Climate Change Performance Scorecard), BLM planning (Resource Management Plan revisions), and other natural resource management and conservation efforts.
The goals of this workshop are to: (1) collaboratively identify a suite of focal resources (e.g., habitats,
species, ecosystem services), and (2) explore alternative future climate scenarios for the region and discuss impacts on focal resources. The suite of resources selected will be the focus of the vulnerability assessment and adaptation planning efforts for the remainder of the project.
PLEASE NOTE: WE ARE CONVENING THIS WORKSHOP IN TWO SEPARATE LOCATIONS TO MINIMIZE TRAVEL TIME FOR WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS. THE SAME WORKSHOP AGENDA AND CONTENT WILL BE PRESENTED AT BOTH LOCATIONS (EUREKA AND REDDING).
