Hawaiian Islands Climate Synthesis Products
The goal of the Hawaiian Islands Climate Synthesis Project has been to develop comprehensive, science-based syntheses of current and projected future climate impacts on, and adaptation options for, terrestrial and freshwater resources within the main Hawaiian Islands. This project is part of the Pacific Islands Climate Change Cooperative's multi-year Hawaiian Islands Terrestrial Adaptation Initiative. For more information on the project background, workshop series, and webinars, please visit the project page. Product Descriptions
The Hawaiian Islands Climate Vulnerability and Adaptation Synthesis report presents the results of the major project components - climate impacts assessment, vulnerability assessment, and adaptation planning - and provides an inter-island analysis of the findings. More detailed information is available in the individual vulnerability assessment syntheses and adaptation summaries, and should be referred to for decision support.

The vulnerability assessment syntheses are longer (20+ pages) state-of-the-science technical products that provide a more comprehensive understanding of the vulnerability assessment process, examines key vulnerabilities, and provides in-depth discussions of potential impacts for a given habitat/ecosystem service.

The adaptation summaries present a brief overview of vulnerability and includes adaptation options for a given habitat/ecosystem service. These summaries include tools to help practitioners evaluate and prioritize adaptation options based on adaptation approach, timeframe, effectiveness, feasibility, and ease of reversibility.

The two-page vulnerability-adaptation briefs describe key climate and non-climate vulnerabilities, adaptive capacity factors, and adaptation options to help reduce vulnerabilities.
